Generally, you should inspect your chlorinator's turbo cell every 3 months of use or every 500 operational hours. Factors such as calcium levels and pool water pH can also affect the frequency of your inspections.
Step-by-Step Guide to Cleaning Your Chlorinator Cell
- Power Off and Disable the Pump: Turn off the power and deactivate the pump to ensure safety during cleaning.
- Inspect the Cell: Remove the turbo cell and check for visible flaky deposits. If none are present, reinstall the cell.
- Flushing: Use a high-pressure hose to rinse any deposits if visible.
- Mixing the Solution: Combine a 4:1 ratio of water to muriatic acid in a clean plastic container (always add acid to water, never water to acid).
Detailed Cleaning Procedure
- Secure and Soak: Attach the cell to the cleaning stand with the cord side down. Fill the cell with the acid solution and let it soak for 15 minutes. Repeat this process until the cell is thoroughly clean.
- Installation and Testing: Reinstall the turbo cell. Press the diagnostic button next to the display for 3 seconds to stop the flashing inspect LED and reset the timer for the next 500 operational hours.
