All You Need To Know
Salt Cell Cleaning for Enhanced Performance
As you use your salt system, calcium deposits may form on the salt cell titanium plates. Regular cleaning is crucial to ensure the longevity and efficiency of your system. The Swimables Acid Cleaning Kit is designed specifically for IC15, IC20, IC40, and IC60 salt cells, making it a reliable and affordable solution.
Clean Your Salt Cell Every 3 Months
Most turbo cells should be inspected and cleaned after 3 months of operation or after every 500 hours of use. The frequency of cleaning also depends on your water chemistry. Better water balance can reduce the need for frequent cleaning.
How to Clean Your Salt Cell
-
Turn Off Power and Deactivate the Pump
Begin by disconnecting all power to the salt system and shutting down the pump. -
Remove Large Calcium Deposits
If deposits are large and visible, use a high-pressure hose to loosen and remove them. -
Prepare the Cleaning Solution
Mix a 4:1 solution of water to muriatic acid in a clean, heavy-duty plastic container. IMPORTANT: Always add acid to water, not water to acid. -
Tighten the Salt Cell
Place the salt cell into the Swimables Acid Cleaning Kit with the cord side down. Fill the salt cell with the acid mixture and let it soak for 15 minutes. -
Repeat the Process
Re-fill the salt cell with the solution and soak until all calcium deposits are removed. -
Replace the Salt Cell
Install your salt cell inline, then press and hold the button labeled "Diagnostic" for about three seconds to turn off the "Inspect Cell" light.
